  3. Good Morning,
At the time of my writing , it is morning for You.
I bookmarked your page on hand mudras. By the way the explanations are easy to follow, thank you.
Since I look at hand mudras, I have a question at the back of my head, and it may sound silly to You, but here it is:
Do you practice hand mudra with both hands at the same time? If you are a right handed person is your right hand more powerful?
In fact I have more than one question!!!!!!!!! I suppose that the palm of the hands are facing you when you practice?
Also I have some trouble keeping the other fingers straight and I stretch them as much as I can [I am pretty old and with arthritis] so can I use the arm of my chair to keep them straight or do the hands have to be at a certain level [shoulders when seated? heart or chest or face while walking???]
Thank You in advance for your anticipated answer,
    Sincerely,
    Jenny

  4. Hi Jenny,

Mudras are most effective when you sit cross-legged on your bed or on the floor while doing it. Your hands have to be at chest level with the palms facing outward. You can choose any hand or both hands - whichever is more comfortable with you.

You may also do mudras at leisure, when you are out on a morning walk or watching tv, with your hands loosely held in your pockets, folded in a particular mudra.

Don't worry too much about keeping your fingers straight. Initially, do the hand mudras for only as much time as you feel comfortable. With time and practice, your fingers will gain the strength and flexibility
to remain straight for longer periods.

I hope your arthritis gets better soon....wishing you the best of health...

  7. Mudras definitely work.....I am a keen follower of mudra therapy. The word is "patience". You cant expect instant fixes but gradually conditions will improve. The trick here is to stay with it. Unlike allopathy where you pop in a pill and you sigh with relief when your symptoms go away, mudra therapy works wonders with the root cause.

Some great reads on mudras are "Gertrud Hirschi's book Mudras: Yoga in Your Hands"

" Mudras For Healing: Mudra Vigyan A Way of Life by H. H. Acharya ..."

The trouble with all of us is that we live in a "Fast World"...Fast food...but slow digestion..We have to stop and smell the roses and not just sprint past it..

  12. Mudras bring about an evolution in our body. In my opinion, they are one of the most powerful form of exercise. Medicines have side effects but mudras don't! No money spent. Life energy gained! I have 3 kids, one elder daughter of 7 yrs and now twin of 10 months (girl & boy). And I am proud to say that all three are accupressure and mudra babies! My deliveries were normal. My twins were born after completion of 9 months 4 days- full term. All my babies were born healthy. I think every body should practice mudras daily for atleast 1 hour. You could be working with one hand and you can still keep the other hand fingers in mudra. No problem.Eat a balanced diet and drink lots of water. The results will be obvious no sooner than you realize!! Doctors' visits will lessen. And there are mudras for every part/organ of our body. Just do them right and you'll be on top of the world with good health and peaceful mind!!

  14. is there any adverse effect if we donot do this properly or if we are doing it continously after the disease is cured also. if we have to consult any doctor before doing this?

    ReplyDelete
  15. You can ask your doctor about this before doing mudra exercises. Generally, most doctors will not object to anyone doing mudra exercises, unless they have some problem with their hands or some other rare problem!
