Don and Bas Ek Pal - Movie Reviews

Weekend Movie Review of Don - the Chase Begins Again and Bas Ek Pal

This weekend I watched the pirated DVD's on cable television of two movies - Don The Chase Begins Again (featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Isha Koppikar) and Bas Ek Pal ( starring Juhi Chawla, Urmila Matondkar, Sanjay Suri and Jimmy Shergill). Well, this is how I rated them -

don the chase begins again bas ek palDon - The Chase Begins Again - 2/10 - a remake of the Amitabh Bachchan flick of the same name, Don - The Chase Begins Again was as big a dissappointment as I thought it would be. Shah Rukh Khan looks incredibily ugly and haggard and as for the rest - no one could act. Shah Rukh Khan's cackling laughter really got on my nerves and I kept flicking the channel for relief. Bad script, no character development - everything copied from here and there. Just shows just what a lack of imagination the director had. A sorry imitation of a classic film interspersed with sequences and a signature tune from James Bond. The worst part was the ending - with the real Don being alive and Vijay being dead - Shah Rukh Khan trying to win it all...what a humbug !

don the chase begins again bas ek palBas Ek Pal - 2/10 - Bas Ek Pal (just one second) is basically a boring movie about relationships and lots of rona dhona (crying scenes). The acting of everyone is mediocre and the script is downright weird. The story is dark but makes no sense. In the end three main characters die - Sanjay Suri, Juhi Chawla and her crazy husband 'Steve' who shoots himself in the head. The only good thing about Bas Ek Pal was that one song which made it to the top on most music countdown shows.

A lousy weekend ! Don - The Chase Begins Again truly sucked and Bas Ek Pal was no better either ! Did you see these movies ?

  2. Have to disagree on Don... if we dont look for what is called 'meaningful cinema', i thought Don was entertaining...

  3. nope.. decided early on against Don and bas ek pal.. what? :-)

Saw Umrao Jaan instead, and it was a huge learning experience.. when you see Aishwarya, you realise the difference between soul and technique.
