Movie Reviews - Apne, Order of the Phoenix, Live Free or Die Hard
Here are reviews of three movies I watched over the last few weeks - Apne, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Live Free or Die Hard 4.
Apne - 6/10 - starring Dharmendra, Bobby and Sunny Deol. This movie is about the sport of boxing. It was quite good except for the melodrama parts inserted at intervals. I liked the script and direction. It would have been much better if Bobby Deol had worked out more and gotten into better shape for the film.
The music was ok, can't remember any of it. The actresses - Katrina Kaif and Shilpa Shetty should have had a much smaller role, preferably a non speaking part. There was no need for them in the film.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - 6/10 - starring Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint. It was concise and much better than the book. However, more drama and emotion is needed in the scenes where the wizards are dueling with sparks flying off from their wands. While shooting the scene, they may be just holding up sticks in front of a blue chroma screen. However, if the central characters do not react in the right way, the glory of the special effects which are later added is lost.
Live Free or Die Hard 4 - 2/10 - starring Bruce Willis. This flick was the biggest disappointment up till now. The story was the same old 'guy rescuing kidnapped woman' tale, seen in almost every other film and television serial. I did not like the computer generated stunts and action sequences. It looked so downright fake. I'd rather watch real stunts like in Rush Hour 3. Also, the stuff in the screenplay about the hacker and computer programming was just gibberish - it made no sense at all. This film is suitable only for Bruce Willis fans who have no knowledge about computers. Anyone else, beware!!!
Have you seen 'Apne', 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix' or 'Live Free or Die Hard'? What do you think of these films?
Apne has crashed at the box-office, I believe.
ReplyDeleteThe best movie in the Die Hard series, still remains the first one. Personally, I think, 'Die Hard with a Vengeance' ranks a close second.
