Imran Khan and Avantika Malik’s wedding reception was held on 10th January 2011 at the Taj Lands End Hotel in Mumbai, after their registered marriage. The reception had a black and silver theme, and was hosted by Imran’s uncle Aamir Khan and wife Kiran Rao. Here is an image of Avantika in a gold and magenta lehenga-choli. If you notice, you'll see that she is not wearing much wedding gold jewellery or the traditional wedding bangles.
Many leading celebrities from Bollywood attended Imran Khan’s wedding reception, such as Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Dipika Padukone, Celina Jaitley, Preity Zinta, Juhi Chawla and Akshay Kumar. They were all dressed in fabulous wedding fashion outfits for the shutterbugs’ photos, except for Salman Khan, who turned up in a black ‘Being Human’ T-shirt.
In addition, veteran film superstars like Dev Anand, Vinod Khanna, Rishi Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, Rakesh Roshan, Jeetendra, Shatrughan Sinha, Prem Chopra and Shammi Kapoor also got their pics clicked while attending the wedding reception. Imran Khan's wedding reception was also graced by big-shot VIPs like Mukesh Ambani, Sachin Tendulkar, Raj Thackeray, Subhash Chandra, Adi Godrej, Kumaramangalam Birla, Praful Patel and Siddharth Mallya.
The party went on till the wee hours of the morning, during which lots of pix were clicked. After the wedding reception was over, the couple flew off to Thailand for their honeymoon and further celebrations. They were accompanied by around 50 other guests, most of whom were close family members.

The registered court marriage of Imran Khan and Avantika Malik was held on Monday, the 10th of January 2011, at Avantika Malik’s residence at Pali Hill, in Bandra, Mumbai.
The court marriage was attended by Imran Khan’s famous uncle Aamir Khan (cousin-mama), his new wife Kiran Rao, first wife Reena Dutta, and their kids Junaid and Ira. Avantika Malik’s mother Vandana was also present at the wedding, and welcomed guests, as sweets were distributed.
This inter-religious registered marriage was also attended by a few Bollywood celebrities, such as Sarika and her daughter Aksara. After the registered wedding ceremony, Imran and Avantika posed for photographs. Imran later drove his wife Avantika to his new home in a black Porsche, for some post-marriage wedding ceremonies. He was dressed in a black bandhgala suit, while Avantika was wearing a pink and white wedding lehenga-choli. Wedding jewelery was minimal. This was followed by a starry reception at the Taj Lands End hotel, for which they changed wedding outfits.
Mehendi Ceremony of Imran Khan and Avantika Malik
The mehendi ceremony for Imran Khan and Avantika Malik was held on Saturday, the 8th of January 2011, at the Malik’s farmhouse in Karjat, near Navi Mumbai. Photographers had gathered around the venue since morning, and were told to come later in the evening to take photos, as the mehendi function was scheduled to begin only from 5.00 pm onwards. Here are some pictures of the mehendi and sangeet functions, of the Imran Khan and Avantika Malik wedding.
For the mehendi function, Avantika wore a red lehenga-choli designed by Manish Malhotra, while Imran Khan wore a dark blue velvet sherwani designed by Varun Bahl and Karan Johar. She did not wear much wedding jewelry, and even skipped the all-important necklace. The mehendi function was followed by a sangeet dance party, which lasted till the early hours of the next day.

Imran Khan’s wedding invitation cards were distributed in early January 2011. Here are some photos of it. Each card consisted of two black and silver boxes, with 2011 written in words. While one box contained chocolates, the other box contained a year-planner diary, potpourri fragrance and a pinwheel. The marriage invitation was a yellow paper attached to the pinwheel, and stated the date and time of the mehendi and wedding ceremony.
Imran Khan’s wedding invitation card package also included a swipe card, which guests have been told to carry for security and identification purposes. On the reverse of this swipe card is a map with the wedding venues marked on it. Avantika Malik and Imran’s Khan’s marriage invitation card has been designed by Uttara Shah, one of the leading high-end wedding invitation card designers in Mumbai.

Born Imran Pal on 13th January 1983, in Madison, Wisconsin, USA, Imran Khan is a leading film actor in India. His father is Sunil Pal (Bengali Hindu), an engineer who works as a consultant at LinkedIn in Silicon Valley; while his mother is Nuzhat Khan (a Muslim, originally from Herat, Afghanistan), and cousin sister of Aamir Khan. His parents divorced when he was around one and a half years, and he came to live in India. In India, he studied at Bombay Scottish School, before his mother transferred him to a boarding school in Ooty.
Avantika Malik is the 28-year-old daughter of TV-18 head honcho Vandana Malik. She also studied at Bombay Scottish School, before joining St. Xavier’s College in Mumbai. She once acted in television serials (Just Mohabbat), and currently works with her mother at TV18.
Imran Khan met Avantika Malik at a party eight years ago, after which they began dating. She later went to the US for further studies, and has also lived together with Imran for a year, when he was training to be an actor in Los Angeles. Imran Khan and Avantika Malik got engaged on 16 January 2010, at the farmhouse of Avantika’s family in Karjat.
