MS Dhoni first met Sakshi Singh Rawat when they were schooling at DAV Jawahar Vidya Mandir, Shyamali in Ranchi. They are family friends and their fathers have worked together in Ranchi. Both of them are originally from Uttaranchal and of the same caste and community. Sakshi Rawat is a hotel management graduate and is working as a trainee at Taj Bengal in Calcutta.
The Sagan ceremony (engagement) of Dhoni and Sakshi was held at Hotel Competant in Dehradun on Saturday the 3rd of July, 2010. There are no public Dhoni sagan photos.
The marriage function of the Dhoni marriage was held on Sunday, the 4th of July 2010 at Vishranti Resort, near Dehradun. The wedding was attended by guests like politicians and filmwallas like Sharad Pawar, Vasundhara Raje, John Abraham and Farah Khan. Mahendra Singh Dhoni's teammates and cricketers RP Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Ashish Nehra and Suresh Raina also attended the wedding ceremony and can be seen in Dhoni's wedding photos.
The Dhoni wedding photos show Dhoni wearing a blue sherwani, while Sakshi is wearing a red sari with green border and lots of heavy gold jewellery. More than 100 police personnel were posted outside the gates of Vishranti Resort to make sure that only cars whose numbers were already given were allowed to enter to attend Dhoni's wedding.

ReplyDeleteActually, Dhoni's wedding was quite hush hush and not many photos were released. These two photos were the only two clear photographs of the wedding, featuring both the bride and the groom!
ReplyDeleteI think the photos are original. The Orange shawl that Sakshi Rawat is wearing in 1st photo is a traditional cloth (pichoda) of Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. ladies used to wear this cloth during wedding, worshipping & other auspicious ceremonies.
