About the Bride and Groom
The bride is Shilpa Shetty, a 34 year old Bollywood actress and model. This Cancerian was born in the Konkan town of Mangalore, Karnataka and hails from the traditional Bunt community. She was educated in Mumbai and stands at 5'9"in height. Her parents are Surendra and Sunanda Shetty, who have a medicine bottle cap manufacturing business. Shilpa Shetty has one younger sister, Shamita, 29 years, who is also a Bollywood actress.
The groom is Raj Kundra, a 30 year old millionaire businessman from the United Kingdom. He is supposedly divorced from his first wife Kavita and has a two year old daughter. Raj is a dropout who started a fashion company called RK Collections Ltd at the age of 21 years. He is an associate owner of London based company UK Tradecorp and is also a film financier. He has said that he was introduced to Shilpa in April 2007, by her manager Farhath Hussain, with a proposal to launch a perfume with her. Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra are also co-owners of the Indian Premier League cricket team 'Rajasthan Royals' and a food chain in the United Kingdom.

Shilpa Shetty Reception
Shilpa Shetty’s wedding reception was held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Mumbai on the 24th of November, 2009. She was wearing a sexy lehenga choli in gold, designed by Tarun Tahiliani for the occasion. Her inlaws were present at the reception. Some of the invitees at Shilpa Shetty's reception were Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai, Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Rekha, Karan Johar, Sameera Reddy, Kangana Ranaut, Rani Mukherjee, Juhi Chawla and Raveena Tandon.
Others who attended were businessman Vijay Mallya, Ness Wadia, cricketer Shane Warne and popstar Jermaine Jackson. Her ex boyfriend Akshay Kumar and wife Twinkle were not invited for obvious reasons. Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra will now be flying to the Bahamas for their honeymoon.
Shilpa Shetty Wedding Ceremony
Shilpa Shetty married Raj Kundra in a lavish ceremony in Khandala on November 22. The function was held at as a traditional Mangalorean ceremony at businesswoman Kiran Bawa's villa in Khandala, located about 100 kms from Mumbai. Only close friends and family were invited for the Shilpa Shetty Raj Kundra marriage function. This included guests such as Sunny Deol, Suneil Shetty, Jackky Bhagnani and his father film producer Vasu Bhagnani.
Raj Kundra arrived at the wedding venue in a silver chariot drawn by two horses. He was dressed like a traditional Punjabi groom, wearing a turban and carrying a sword. Raj Kundra's sherwani was maroon with golden embroidery designed by Shantanu and Nikhil. His sehra was a string of pearls. Shilpa Shetty was dressed like a traditional Manglorean bride in a burgundy and red saree, embellished with Swarovsky crystals, designed by Tarun Tahiliani. However, she was wearing chuda bangles like a Punjabi bride.
The Shilpa Shetty Raj Kundra marriage rituals was a combination of Mangalorean and Punjabi traditions, with the wedding vows being exchanged according to South Indian tradition while the pre-wedding rituals like mehendi and sangeet were conducted as per Punjabi tradition. The reception is scheduled to be held in Mumbai on November 24 with another reception in London.
Shilpa Shetty Mehendi and Sangeet
Shilpa Shetty's Mehendi and Sangeet ceremony for her wedding were held at Bawa Cottage in Khandala on Saturday, the 21st of November, 2009. The Sangeet ceremony of Shilpa Shetty was choreographed by Bollywood choreographer Ganesh Hegde. It was attended by the groom Raj Kundra, Shilpa's sister Shamita Shetty, mother Sunanda Shetty, hostess Kiran Bawa, punjabi singer Daler Mahendi, newcomer Jackie Bhagnani and others. The Mehendi ceremony was held in the morning of the same day. This photograph shows Shilpa showing off her Mehendi design as she arrives to attend the Sangeet ceremony with her mom Sunanda.
Shilpa Shetty Wedding Card
The wedding card for the Shilpa Shetty Raj Kundra marriage was designed by Delhi Designer Ravish Kapoor and is estimated to cost around Rs. 500 each.
Only close family members and friends have been invited for the Shilpa Shetty Raj Kundra wedding, scheduled to be held on 22nd November. Around 1000 invitations have been sent for the reception. The envelope is in gold with Shilpa and Raj's initials entwined with a gold crest and ribbon. The front panel of the card, covered with images of Ganesha, has a compartment of sweets for the invitee.
Shilpa Shetty Engagement
Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty got engaged on Saturday, October 24th 2009. The venue was Raj Kundra's apartment in Juhu, Mumbai.
The Shilpa Shetty Raj Kundra engagement ceremony was attended by Shilpa's parents and Raj Kundra's parents, who had flown down to Mumbai from England. Her sister Shamita could not attend as she was locked up in the 'Big Boss' reality show house. Shilpa Shetty's engagement saree was designed by Manish Malhotra.
